The Mayonnaise Jar and Two Cups of Coffee
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours and a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and two cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of small pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “yes.” The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. “Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-your family, your children, your health, your Friends and your favorite passions. Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter-like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else-the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, “he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18! There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first…the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.” One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Coffee represented. The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.”

I hope,The Mayonnaise jar and The two cups of coffee will inspire you and I am glad that so far I set my priorities up in the right order. Allow me to take not a long time ago event as an example: Christmas for people is a stress time. Some of them takes in positive way (included me) πŸ˜‰ Thank GOD and some which I found it pity, they complain and try to make their best way out of the stress which in the end they feels even more stress. I know,it’s not my business and after all that is their own choice to put themselves and translated the nice event into a BIG stress moment. But I think because I’m just a simple person with the simple thinking who enjoy every single thing that life offers to me. So,instead to put myself into complain and translate the moment as a big stress moment,I prefer to enjoy very much the hectic and “stress” to hunt for a present –include stay in a long queue at cashier 😑 — with the simple thinking that when all my loves one set a BIG smile on their face…I’m totally happy πŸ˜€ I do all with my love cause they are after all my loves one…..Hey,wait,I just realized that I wrote something that could consider as a “Looking back Part III” πŸ™„ πŸ™‚ …Oh,just for a note…PLEASE don’t offer me a cup of coffee like the professor caused I’m not a coffee fans but I will be delightful for a tee or hot chocolate. Oh,GOSH! It is my tee time schedule now…..Enjoy every moment in your life every one…when you still have a choice then choose the positive one. Convert the negative to positive πŸ˜‰ and PLEASE,allow me from the heart to wish you all…“Have a very happy and prosperous New Year 2008”….the January 2008 is not end up yet and means 2008 still new, well please accept my excuse for being late to greet 😳 πŸ˜‰
